The research programme is in development.
Its purpose is not simply to accumulate evidence in favour of Borrowed Mirrors. It is to test where the argument holds, where it needs revision and how different contexts affect the relationship between frameworks, recognition and judgement.

Under what conditions do frameworks travel well across organisations, sectors and geographies, and when do their assumptions begin to break down?

How do particular categories and forms of evidence acquire the authority to shape consequential decisions?

Institutions can engage with the argument through thoughtfully designed conversations, research collaboration and applied inquiry. Questions such a conversation might explore include:
- What does our institution currently recognise as legitimate evidence?
- Where might our measures be accurate but incomplete?
- Who can challenge the judgements produced by our frameworks?
- Are we diagnosing genuine shortcomings or asking people to conform to inadequate standards?
- What would more contextually valid judgement require?
Practitioner Development
In development
Borrowed Mirrors is considering how practitioners might work with the inquiry responsibly in advisory, facilitation and institutional settings.
A formal practitioner pathway should be published only when the method, evidence requirements, supervision and quality standards are sufficiently developed.
For now, practitioners can register interest in future learning and contribute cases or questions from their own work.
